Blizzard at LearningFuze

Dahmian Owen, Lead Software Engineer of the Irvine-based premier epic game company that created World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo to name just a few, shared his insight and passion for web development to LearningFuze students and alumni. A frequent speaker to the LearningFuze community, Dahmian’s experience with managing a growing team of developers and his own coding expertise allows him to give advice for aspiring developers.

  • Have the learning mindset. Be hungry to learn new and different languages and eager to grow as a developer. Become an expert in at least one language and learn it well while being open to learning other languages.
  • Be a team player. Be open to working on multiple projects with teammates and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be a great communicator. Make sure others can read and understand your code and that you can communicate your ideas effectively. Also, sharpen your writing abilities.
  • Be passionate about the business. Blizzard has a certain culture and most of the team lives and breathes video games, especially with Blizzard’s extensive line of games.

Thank you Dahmian for sharing your insights and experience with the aspiring developers and look forward to seeing you again!
