We routinely get questions from students around the what, why and how of the LearningFuze application process. After doing all the work in researching coding bootcamps the next step is choosing the right one and the application process should work to provide very useful insight. This first step may seem daunting as you simply want to get your learning and subsequent career going, but at LearningFuze it is a key part of the program and all for the good!
So why is it important to even have an application process in place? The answer quite simply is that we want to make sure that we are bringing like-minded students into the program so that you and your cohort mates get the most out of the experience. In many respects, web development is a team sport and it is critical that we create a cohort that is willing, interested and capable of communicating and collaborating effectively. The program not only requires individual coding of projects but also working in teams to create some serious applications. Each person needs to be able to contribute to that effort and therefore also possess the necessary, baseline technical skills. The application process should be a transparent experience so that you have a clear understanding of what to expect.
This is really the most straightforward part of the application process as LearningFuze has put in place a proprietary portal where prospective students create an account and are then walked through a few steps to complete the process. It all starts by simply clicking the “Get Started” button on the upper right hand corner of the LearningFuze website and you are off and running!
What are the steps in working through the application process?
- Once you have created an account you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire and then simply submit your application.
- Once we receive, we review to ensure the questions have been answered and work to approve within a day.
- You will then receive an approval email prompting you to go back into the system using your login information to schedule an interview at a day and time that works best.
- Once the interview is complete you will be sent a technical assessment to complete and return. You are then all set to roll!
- We conduct a short Q&A, send you the student agreement and you reserve your seat and viola you are on your way to conquering the code!
What’s with the interview?
The interview is really an opportunity to get to know each other better and ensure the program is a good fit for all. We will ask some behavioral interviewing questions similar to what you may experience in an employment interview and you will then have plenty of time to ask us questions to ensure you are comfortable with the program and how we will be working together to meet your goals.
How much should I prepare for the technical assessment?
LearningFuze provides specific preparation guidelines located in the application or student enrollment page. We suggest working through the recommended online codecademy tracks as well as dive into the books that are shared. The purpose of working through the recommended material is to not only be ready for the assessment but more importantly prepare for the program. With that said, though there is a minimum requirement that needs to be met, the assessment is as much a diagnostic tool that helps us as well as you know where your technical knowledge is at so we can provide the support, direction and resources to help you get into the program and meet your web development goals.
All in all in the application process is to provide insight as to whether the bootcamp as well as coding are for you and ensure the program is a good fit for all. We are wholly committed to students that are approved and enter the program and we want to ensure we are able meet your needs as you pursue a career in web development. The demand for developers is hot, but you have to be ready to take advantage of the opportunities and it starts with preparing for the program which starts with the application process. In order to be successful in attaining your goals it starts with the first step!
